Fun to make! I think mine turned out to be more 60s-does-20s, but I still love it!
Just the bare-bones basic model made from left over fabric. I mostly made this just to see if I could do it correctly. And I did lol. I might add a cute collar at some point. Maybe make it again it more suitable fabric so it's cute and wearable. I'm aware this one looks like a hospital gown -- but it was just an experiment.
Took me about 2.5 hours for my first try. If I were to make this again, it would probably take closer to an hour now that I know what I'm doing. Super easy.
Let's just pause to look at how amazing this pattern is. I'm had it for YEARS. I'm pretty sure I bought it when I was an overweight 170 lbs only because I HAD to have it no matter what. I knew it didn't fit and I can't resize very well. But I had to have it.
Well, I can now fit into size 16 patterns -- a size I NEVER thought I'd ever fit into. I had some pinstripe suiting fabric laying around and I just knew this would be the perfect pattern to use it with. LOOK AT IT! This dress is my masterpiece.
Miraculously, I made it in one weekend. The only change I made was I added 4 inches to the hem. Who ever used it last did a hack job and made it knee-length. I was flabbergasted at how well it turned out (It's not perfect, but it's MINE!) and also that IT FIT. RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE!
I've already nicked named it my "Space Woman" dress. IT also brings to mind:
LOL! Which a Thriller-inspired version might be in order. I also have another Space Woman pattern I now need to make up. It's a 14, but I'm a 16 now so I might be able to work it! Yeay!
I made this dress out of very cheap, nasty fabric from my stash thinking I wouldn't like it very much....but I love it LOL. I love this pattern and I think it would be great in a nicer fabric. I like they way mine LOOKS (looks quite 80s!), but that black fabric is just so gross. It's stiff and cheap. I've had it in my stash for YEARS because it is so nasty. I have no idea why I bought so much of it (6 yards!). Oh well. This pattern is labeled as "Average", but I though it was easy. Didn't take take long, either.
